Our Awakening Cacao comes from the Ucayali region of Peru – an area surrounded by tropical rivers. The Criollo variety grown here is cultivated with loving care and decades of experience by a small family cooperative. The cacao trees thrive in mixed plantings among fruit and shade trees – a natural ecosystem that maintains a balance between soil, plants, and insects. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are completely avoided; instead, organic, often homemade, plant protection products ensure healthy soil and vibrant plants. Thanks to the "bean-to-bar" approach, the cacao is processed directly on-site. This fully preserves the aromas, minerals, and valuable plant compounds – and every sip carries the spirit of this fertile place within it.
